Janis Vilmanis
Volleyball, born 1943 in Latvia emigrated to Argentina in 1948, where he showed soccer talent and was assigned to first division racing club as a reserve. however, his family moved to Toronto in 1961. In Toronto he started his volleyball career with Toronto DV, a Latvian team, in the Toronto Baltic league. He played then for the Estonian Kalev team from 1964-1966 where he came to be recognized as one of Canada's best volleybll players. after that he played for Balmy Beach Canoe Club who were the Canadian Champions in 1967 and 1968. He played for Canada in the 1963( Sao Paulo) and 1967 (Winnipeg)PanAm games.
